Studios

After public consultation with the local community, W.K.C.I. L. launched the Craft Town Scotland project. The Moffat Trust, established by the Moffat family who live in West Kilbride, purchased the first two studios on behalf of W.K.C.I.L. in 1998 and remains a supporter of the project. Fund raising by W.K.C.I.L. and partnership funding from Scottish Enterprise Ayrshire has enabled a further three studios to be purchased and refurbished.

Each studio provides a shop front/exhibition area and workshop area. The studios offer affordable high quality facilities to contemporary designer-makers and present an opportunity for the public to see work of a regional, national and international significance focused within one area. There are now six professional designer-makers operating from West Kilbride, creating a diverse range of carefully considered, beautifully crafted objects. Many of the designer-makers undertake commissions and exhibit nationally and internationally; therefore it is recommended that visitors call to confirm opening times.

Craft Town Scotland Studio Open Days provide an opportunity to take a guided tour of the studios and gallery; guided tours will be available by pre-arrangement only. The Craft Town Development Officer will be on hand to discuss the project and answer questions.
