Sandy Campbell : Studio 30 Ritchie Street

Woodcarver Sandy Campbell was one of three wood craftsmen offered the opportunity to create an object carved from Renfrewshire"s famous Wallace Yew. The timber fell from the tree during a storm last January and Renfrewshire Council devised this project as part of the special William Wallace anniversary year.

Displayed at Paisley Museum as part of the Wallace Exhibition, the Tourist Information Centre in Paisley also had some of the smaller pieces for sale. Sandy leapt at the chance to work on the project, creating a limited number of plaques depicting the countenance of Wallace himself.
