Bryony lives in West Kilbride and her lovely jewellery has been a hit with the town"s residents for some time now - she has built up a reputation over several years as one of our best selling jewellers in the W.K. Initiative Centre. It was this success that partly inspired Bryony to take the next step and establish her own studio workshop in the craft town, which is open a minimum of Thursday, Friday & Saturday.
Bryony was born and raised in Northern Ireland, and from a very early age the creative process was always at the centre of family life. Bryony's father George designed and handcrafted acoustic guitars and, together with her mother Flo, built that creativity into the George Lowden Guitar Company.
Bryony continues to focus on these traditional values of individual creativity, attention to detail, and the finest materials in every piece of jewellery that she makes. Jewellery began as just a hobby, grew into a passion, and remains at the heart of everything Bryony designs.
Global source: Global care
Materials for Bryony's jewellery come from all over the world. Bryony's inspiration also has global influence, drawn from experience living in many far-flung places. Due in part to her background in Relief and Development, and also to her faith, a continuing value for Bryony is to be a global citizen and to give from what she has to some of the most needy and most forgotten peoples on the planet.
For this reason a percentage of the income from Bryony's business will be donated to various projects that support widows and orphans in third world countries.
Individual : Inspiration
For Bryony, part of the thrill of creating a piece of jewellery is knowing that there is that one person who will enjoy it and wear it. Therefore, Bryony's designs come with that one person in mind. These aren't one out of a hundred thousand, machine made trinkets. They are handcrafted individual pieces, for an individual.
Often Bryony's inspiration comes from women she knows who have their own individual style and beauty. I worked out very early on that if I pictured one of these women while I worked, then I often ended up with a much better design". In addition Bryony also credits nature, foreign cultures, and biblical descriptions of heaven as her inspiration.
