Following on from the huge success of the first ever Ayrshire Open Studios weekend in June 2006, Ayrshire Makers are pleased to invite you to the 2007 Ayrshire Makers Open Studios Weekend.
Ayrshire is home to a wealth of artistic talent and many professional makers. The weekend of the 9th and 10th of June offers a wonderful opportunity to visit makers actually working in their studios, view their work at its point of origin and purchase unique items direct. The beauty of Ayrshire is world renowned, so the journeys between studios will be spectacular.
There are two opportunities to view the work of the Ayrshire Makers participating in the open studios weekend in advance, with work on show from the 2nd of May until the 10th June.
One of the preview exhibitions is taking place at the Maclaurin Galleries, Rozelle Estate, Ayr. The work on show will include original designs in ceramics, textiles, wood, metal, glass and willow, for decorative or functional use.
The Gallery, West Kilbride is hosting the other preview exhibition with work from Virgil Bauzys (Basketweaver), Nicola Beattie (Candlemaker), Lise Bech (Basketweaver), Maggie Broadley (Ceramist), Liz Brown (Hand-felted Textiles), Clare Gillies (Ceramics), Margaret MacDonald (Ceramics), Sandy Mitchell (Beaded Jewellery) and Sue C Wilkinson (Stained Glass).
