Since the inception of the Craft Town, one of the main objectives was to gain accreditation from VisitScotland as a “Visitor Attraction”
Set off the main A78 road to Largs, West Kilbride’s studios and gallery need the added impact of Brown Tourism Signs to confirm its status as one of North Ayrshire’s cultural destinations.

Visitor Attractions are graded for the standard of customer care they provide for the visitor. The star award focus on the standard of the welcome, hospitality and service, the attractions presentation as well as standard of the toilets, shop and café, where provided.

After several advisory visits which provided an insight into the positive and negative elements of the visitor experience, we set about implementing VisitScotland’s recommendations. The Directors and Development Officer were delighted when official confirmation was received that, after the most recent advisory visit, Craft Town Scotland had been awarded accreditation as a Visitor Attraction.

A full assessment visit will take place in the next few months, after which Craft Town Scotland will receive a 1 - 5 star rating.
